Vancouver Sun Run
April 24, 2022
The primary goals of the Vancouver Sun Run are the promotion of health, fitness, and a sense of community. When the race began in 1985, just 3,200 participants walked or ran on the streets of downtown Vancouver. Each year the race grew, attracting new people to what soon became a Vancouver tradition of fun and fitness. Although not designed as a charity event, the Vancouver Sun Run is proud to have donated more than $3.23 million in proceeds for important causes since 1985.
The GVFB provides food to more than 9,000 people each week through our four distribution sites in Burnaby, New Westminster, Vancouver and the North Shore. In addition, we work with 112 Community Agency Partners, providing food for their existing food programs serving thousands more. We focus heavily on nutrition with more than 50% of the food we distribute being fresh produce, dairy and protein. We also offer specialized nutritional programs for Babies, PreSchoolers, Grade Schoolers and Seniors each month.
